Ingredients: 1 pound lean ground beef 1 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 2 hours 1 medium onion, roughly chopped 4 cloves garlic 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled 2 green chilies, chopped 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon coriander seeds 1 teaspoon red chili powder 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon garam masala 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1 egg 2-3 cups water Vegetable oil for frying Lemon wedges and sliced onions for garnish
