A simple cheesy snack made from leftover bread slices, potato and cheddar or mozzarella cheese stuffing. the recipe is similar to potato cheese balls or corn cheese balls. it can be ideal evening snacks or perhaps a starter for your next potluck party. cheese balls are popular urban snacks which can be seen as both street food and restaurant snack. typically it is made with mixed vegetables stuffed with cheese block in a breadcrumbs coating. but bread cheese balls recipe is an innovative recipe made with leftover bread slices added for aloo stuffing

many can argue about the combination of deep frying and bread slices and assume that it can absorb too much oil. but i would like to clear the confusion once in for all with this post of cheese bread balls. as matter of fact, if the bread slices helps to absorb moisture and also not break while frying. this should hold good for most of the bread snacks recipes.
in addition, i would like to add a few tips, suggestionsand variations for bread cheese balls recipe. First, i have used crushed cornflakes to give crispy outer coating, you can alternatively use breadcrumbs or rava/semolina. also, the bread slices can be replaced with breadcrumbs to absorb excess moisture from potato. furthermore, stuff the cheese cube well to prevent cheese melting; as a safety precaution, freeze for 30 minutes before frying.
Ingredients
Preparation time: 15 min
Cook time: 10 min
- 2 potato / aloo (boiled & mashed)
- 1 chilli (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp. ginger paste
- 2 tbsp. coriander (finely chopped)
- ¼ tsp. pepper (crushed)
- 1 tsp. mixed herbs
- ¼ cumin powder / jeera powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 slice bread (white/brown)
- 10 cubes cheese (cheddar/mozzarella)
- 1 cup corn flakes
- 1/2 cup corriendar
Directions
- First, in a large mixing bowl, take 2 boiled potato.
- Also add 1 chilli, ½ tsp. ginger paste, 2 tbsp coriander, ¼ tsp. pepper, 1 tsp. mixed herbs, ¼ tsp. cumin powder, and ½ tsp. salt.
- Additionally, tear 2 bread slices.
- make a soft, non-sticky dough. keep aside.
- Now pinch a ball sized aloo mixture and flatten it slightly.
- Place a cubed sized cheese in the centre.
- get the edges together and stuff the cheese well.
- form a smooth ball, making sure there are no cracks.
- Further, roll in crushed cornflakes or breadcrumbs, covering them uniformly.
- Fry in hot oil or bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15–18 minutes.
- stir occasionally without breaking the cheese balls.
- fry until bread cheese balls turn golden brown and crisp.
- Drain off the balls over kitchen paper, absorbing excess oil.
- Finally, enjoy bread and cheese balls with tomato sauce.
