Koftas are similar to meatballs and are typically found in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Kofta can be made from any kind of white fish. I used Rita fish for making my kofta curry here. Make sure you have all the ingredients before you begin. In a large bowl, mix the rice flour, eggs, corn flour, green chilies, and salt. Add the fish to the batter and mix until everything is well combined. Make small balls from the mixture and flatten them slightly with your hands. Fry in some oil until golden brown on both sides. Serve hot with your favorite curry sauce. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 kg white fleshed fish
- 2 cups of rice flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoon corn flour
- 4/5 finely chopped Green chilies
- 2 Tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
- 4 Teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 Teaspoon Red chili powder
- 2 Teaspoon ginger paste
- 2 Teaspoon Garlic paste
- 2 cups of finely chopped onions
- 1 tea spoon cumin powder
Direction:
- Boil the fish with salt and turmeric, then remove the bones nicely.
- Mince the small onion, 4 green chilies, mint, coriander leaves and mix with fish along with rice flour, corn flour, 1/2 eggs and salt.
Knead to a smooth mixture. Make small balls.
- And deep fry to a golden brown color.
- Drain and set aside.
- Grind onion, ginger and garlic to a paste.
- Pound together the remaining spices to a fine powder.
- Heat three table spoons of oil and fry the ground paste to a golden brown color.
- Put in spices and fry for a couple of seconds. Cook till the oil floats to the top. You can add some tomatoes or curds here. I used none of it at this moment.
- Put in 2 cups of water. Mix nicely and cook over a low fire till all the liquid dries.
- Mash to a smooth paste with the help of a wooden spoon and then pour in two more cups of water.
- Put in the fish balls and simmer for five more minutes.
- Serve fish kofta curry hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
